Dragonfly  Brown And Purple Dragonfly

Today I saw the dragon-fly
Come from the wells where he did lie.
An inner impulse rent the veil
Of his old husk: from head to tail
Came out clear plates of sapphire mail.
He dried his wings: like gauze they grew;
Thro' crofts and pastures wet with dew
A livin
g flash of light he flew.

Alfred, Lord Tennyson

Green Dragonfly        Blue Purple Dragonfly

Two-day class
Level: Upper Intermediate/Advanced
with proficiency in tubular and flat Peyote stitch.

My goal in teaching this dragonfly piece is to help экскурсии на Валаам из Санкт-Петербурга others understand the cause and effect of the different ‘physical’ aspects regarding this ancient (2400-2600 B.C.) off-loom technique called Peyote or Gourd stitch. Specifically, to help others learn to make their own structural or sculptural shapes without any armature or stiffening waxes.

This piece incorporates tubular peyote with increase and decrease, regular and sculptural flat stitch peyote. The wings are unsupported. The dragonfly is created with 15/0 seed beads. The finished size is six inches by five inches.
